Program Description
Parenting and supporting an LGBTQIA+ young person is a journey filled with pride, growth, and, at times, uncertainty. Rooted in Love is designed for adults who are directly caring for or guiding LGBTQIA+ young people. It offers a welcoming space for all kinds of families—biological, adoptive, blended, and chosen families; mentors; caregivers; teachers; and any adult committed to walking alongside an LGBTQIA+ young person’s journey.
Together, we’ll explore what it means to show up with love, courage, and authenticity. Guided by the Satir Growth Model, this program builds community, offers practical tools, and nurtures the inner resources needed to support young people with confidence and compassion.
Who This Is For
This program welcomes any supportive adult connected to an LGBTQIA+ young person, including:
Parents and caregivers (biological, adoptive, foster, kinship)
Extended family (grandparents, aunts/uncles, siblings)
Chosen family and close family friends
Mentors, educators, coaches, youth leaders, and community allies
While we deeply value allies in all their forms, this workshop is specifically for adults who are actively guiding, caring for, or supporting an LGBTQIA+ young person. It is not intended for those who simply wish to show general support for the LGBTQIA+ community without a direct connection to a young person.
This is not a therapy group. If you’re seeking individual or family counseling, we’re happy to share referral options.
